About

The BOOK

Hip Hop Haiku was born from the National Poetry Month Writing Challenge. Each year, people are challenged to write a poem for each day of the month. As a fan of Hip Hop and being a poet, Bluz wanted to take the challenge to a place where no one else was taking it. He wanted to challenge himself with poetic form and take the opportunity to celebrate the culture he grew up in. Applying Haiku (poems that are 3 lines long, with 5 syllables in the 1st line, 7 in the 2nd, and 5 in the 3rd line) to Hip Hop means creating poems about the fashion, the language, the graffiti artists, break-dancers, dance moves, the artists, the DJs or anything that focused around the culture. This book is an ode to the true essence of the culture; Colorful, vibrant words and art created by the artists who are living, working and thriving in Hip Hop culture.
